Door County is home to 11 lighthouses, many of which were built in the 1800s. Tours provide a glimpse into the past, the maritime and navigational history. Here are two we have visited:
The first two photos are of the Cana Island Lighthouse, which is located on the north end of Baileys Harbor off. When the lake is lower it is accessed by walking across a stone causeway. With the recent high-water levels, a wagon ride across the causeway will keep you dry.
Eagle Bluff Lighthouse was built in 1868 and is perched 76 feet above the waters of Green Bay. It is easy to get to in Peninsula State Park.
